David Hookway, 35 North’s lead design builder for Invitae’s East Coast Laboratory and Production Facility, took the stage today in Atlanta to accept two awards at the Engineering News-Record (ENR) SE event: Best Project, Renovation/Restoration and Best Project, Excellence in Safety.

This 125,000-SF, fast-track, #designbuild project was completed on time (8 months from demo to delivery) and within its original budget amid supply chain delays, labor shortages, and material escalation. The facility is flexible and sustainable (awaiting LEED certification). For most of the project, 180+ people worked on site six days a week (totaling 196,520 working hours) with zero lost time incidents, recordables, or COVID-19 cases.
