Wake Forest University School of Medicine
Piedmont Triad Community Research Center
This project involves a comprehensive analysis comparing a full renovation to a replacement design for the existing Wake Forest University School of Medicine’s Piedmont Triad Community Research Center. The renovation option involves selective demolition of various wings of the three-story building, removal of the mechanical yard, and a full interior gut and redo with new, open and enclosed labs and office space. The replacement option includes a full demolition of the building and replacing it with a new five-story structure to house a vivarium, BSL research labs, and office space. Both options include the addition of a new roof-top penthouse.
