University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Wilson Library

CHAPEL HILL, NORTH CAROLINA

Located at the heart of the University, Wilson Library is home to several historical collections of original materials. It was built in 1929 with additions in 1953 and 1977. A programming planning study was conducted to evaluate infrastructure upgrades for the library to meet current building code requirements. Included in the study was evaluating code compliant egress for the entire building, new mechanical systems within portions of the original 1929 stacks and the stacks of the 1953 addition, extending sprinkler coverage, and upgrading the fire alarm system per current safety standards. The scope of the study also included interior renovations to two existing bathrooms, floors, walls, ceilings, and fixtures.

35 North provided preconstruction services including constructability, logistics planning, and cost management.
